.TuG.Tweak
My mate Tom in work has recently won a competition at Minsterley ranges in Shropshire. Have a butchers at this, those of a military inclination in the clan will defininately appreciate this! Bare in mind that he was 100m away and it's a 5 BULLET grouping! Be sure to check out the TXT doc at the bottom, his gun is amazing! guns stuff.txt Edited May 7, 2008 by .TuG.Tweak

.TuG.Tweak
I know! It can cost a lot of money. You can get a perfectly good rifle for a couple of hundred quid(!). It's the license that can be hard to get though. He's a top bloke and has loads of really nice guns, to say he's an expert is a bit of an understatement! .TuG.Wizard
yea with the licence you have to get the police to check your history and come round to check your house if you have a suitable case fixed to the wall that cant be removed easy and all locked up well im half way there
Tommo
So you like the rifle eh. Well let me tell you it shoots like a dream and handles like a pussycat.. unless you're standing alongside me then it lives up to its nickname.. The Kidney Krusher. Believe me the muzzle blast from the brake on the end of the barrel is something to experience:eek: Now for something completly different... Have a look at these babies:biggrin: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h8/Remy700/Guns/L1000953.jpg Shot with a Glock 17 at 15m - first time I'd shot a pistol for nearly 25 years..!! http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h8/Remy700/Guns/100_0670.jpg Fun gun.. it's really a Ruger 10/22 semi-auto but I change the stock like I change my suits.. but it hammers bunnies out to 70m or so:biggrin: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h8/Remy700/Guns/100_0611.jpg Speaks for itself. My drop dead gorgeous Lee-Enfield No4 Mk2 in .303. Built in 1941 and with all matching serial numbers (except the scope and mount of course, they're 'modern', but an original No32 scope with mount would set you back about Edited May 7, 2008 by Tommo
.TuG.Wizard
wow tommo i envy you just the experience of actually fireing any weapon but the Lee-Enfield No4 Mk2 caught my eye that must of been a lovely to fire a older weapon like that not like some of the modern weapons keep us posted m8 as its very interesting to read
Tommo
You're dead right about the L-E. To be honest it's the most perfect battle/military rifle you'll ever see. And I'm including today's crap in that statement. M16, SA80, H-K, AK out to 800 with first shot kill capability? Not on your life. Now it's all down to 'mouse guns', the 5.56 cal, and it's too light. (Bear in mind only the military use metric sizes, so to me it's .223 for 5.56mm, or .308 for 7.62mm You really do have to go some to beat the L-E and I know I'm not alone in thinking the No4 Mk2 was the best version of them all. I shoot with friends who have them and love them and others who shoot Mauser K98's, the German infantry version of the L-E. They are good too but heavier, and longer. Just remembered I have a mate who shoots an 1898 Swiss Schmitd-Rubin rifle, an original, not a copy..!! Smokey as hell and kicks like a mule but its a nice rifle and accurate too - when the smoke clears enough to see the target..!! Edited May 7, 2008 by Tommo memory is failing due to too much beer.. Can't comment about the K98, I've shot a couple but not in a comparitive sense.. Knob Creek is hot stuff.... but here's how NOT to do it.. If the shooter had leaned six inches to the left his head would have been all over the camera lens.. He was SOOOOO lucky. It's a perfect example of how fast rounds travel. That's gone out and come back in a little over 3 seconds. By the way a .50cal bullet weighs between 42 to 52 grammes.. and would hit with about 10,000 ft lbs of energy..!!!!!!! .TuG.Wizard
omg he was very lucky guy what was he 2 close at the target he was shooting at and rebounded?
Tommo
Not too close. I'd guess that's about 800m to those hills. He was just unlucky. You'd not shoot one at 100m.. would be a bit like shooting a shotgun in a phone box  You have to bear in mind what they call 'safe working distance' with all ammo. Even a tiny .22 will travel over a mile in still conditions and with the right elevation. So, if you up the calibre, you can imagine how far they could go.. a .308 like my rifle uses will have a safe working distance of around SEVEN AND A HALF MILES. That's perfectly still air, perfect elevation and perfect humidity - it will go that far..... Right, I'm off to bed. .TuG.DaveAlmighty
Haha, that guy must be living life to the full now after that! I'd have crapped myself, literally. But yeah, I have no idea how good these are, to your standards, piles of shite? http://www.hornets.org.uk/Images/shoot/L98A1.jpg http://www.hornets.org.uk/Images/shoot/.22%20No%208%20Mk1.jpg But hey, I'm 15, so good enough for me. Tommo
The rifle in the second pic looks like a sporterised Lee-Enfield. The police also used them like that and they were called the Enfield 'Enforcer'. Obviously they were in .303 originally but eventually standardised to 7.62Nato (.308) You can often find them around selling for a couple of hundred quid... As for the first pic.. isn't that an single shot cadet version SA80??. No SUSAT either.. Well we all know what the 'SA' stands for... Shi**y Awful:biggrin: It's one rifle I haven't had a chance to shoot, but I have handled a couple. If they shoot as badly as they feel they I can well understand. This is what happens when you compromise:rolleyes:
