.TuG.Tweak
I have one of these http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/gibson-les_paul_standard_50/1065 Never stays in tune, breaks your back due to the weight and is rubbish for playing fast on. I might sell it in fact! lol But it does sound amazing.
.TuG.h0
haha nice. btw tweak, seeing as you have the uber guitar skills I was wondering if we could get on TS some time so I could ask you some questions about guitar theory when you have time. I haven't touched my guitar in about a month and I was baffled when looking at notes from my guitar lessons ages ago. Just for a general idea I mostly use a fender stratocaster 2002 (i believe) deluxe with noiseless pickups (humbucker included), also have a vamp and some shitty fender amp. Bought it in hong kong got it for cheap butgot stopped at customs lol. Theory wise I'm not even sure where I left off but I learnt diff modes and playing arpeggios but what I really can't remember was the way chords are created and steps between notes. Oh, I also have one of these, which has been my main guitar for a while: http://www.imuso.co.uk/ProductDetail.asp?StockCode=EG01025 NP mate, only too happy to help. I'm not bad on the theory side of things (largly thanks to the "CAGED" method of remembering things). Chords are made up of at least 3 notes of the scale of the partucular key, not to difficult really. Then you add and change any of the notes to get your dufferent chords in that key. I still have real problems remembering stuff. lol Actually, moving between chords using common notes (or modulation) is very easy. You just have to remember which notes are common to which chords. .TuG.-Breaker
if you seriously want to learn guitar, i would strongly recommend the program called "Guitar Pro"!! It is a real pro prog, really helped me playing fast and really haxxxxxor things^^ you can do big advantages with that one really, it costs like round about
.TuG.h0
haha got it, bought it, had it for a while I'm not so advanced in my theory, I just need to remember what I was taught and build on it more. Saw this today, if you ever saw Jerry C's version this one's also nice, but I found it too much, he just shoved in as much as he could. So I was thinking, in Canon in D the chord progression is: D A Bm F#m G D G A If either of you know, if you want to improv on these chords would I just choose whichever scale I think would be nice (mixolydian, etc) for each chord or would it be a better idea to stick with say: first part is D so stick to: D mixolydian, A Aeolian, etc Would that make sense? .TuG.h0
If I'm not mistaken the guy loves arpeggios and scale progressions? I gotta work on mine. Not my favourite but I guess it'll help me get my hand back into practice. Edited July 12, 2008 by .TuG.h0

I would use the D Major Pentatonic. A good trick is to use a B Melodic minor chord when this cord appears in the music. Moving between D, and A so REALLY simple ( I would use the D blues scale to add veriety) It really is up to you. Oh, and i would recomend a book called "Chords and scales for guitarists" by David Mead. It's really good and makes things very simple.

Cool, I've been looking for a good guitar theoy book but I can only ever find "beginner" books which teach you how to hold a pick and a few scales/chords etc : / will look into it! Did you check out my new axe mate? http://www.lifeismusic.co.uk/guitar/Ibanez-RGR320EX-RBK-Electric-G-4498.aspx I'm currently learning the intro "squeals" to Cemetary Gates by Pantera. You have to use Pinched Harmonics and whammy them upwards and downwards while keeping enough sustain! It sounds really cool though!
