Yep, they finally did it after more than a year of messing around - a major update to BF2 - now with free Booster packs too.... Full details below:

Might get this installed again and have a play.... Details below. After nearly a year of development and three public beta tests Battlefield 2 v1.50 is ready for release. The update will be released on Tuesday 1st September at 5pm UK, 6pm Europe. Stay tuned for release announcement in the near future! As part of Update 1.50 we are glad to announce that not only is Highway Tampa now a required install included in the update but Euro Forces (Great Wall, Taraba Quarry and Operation Smoke Screen) and Armored Fury (Midnight Sun, Operation Harvest and Operation Road Rage) is now FREE for all Battlefield 2 players. Including the brand new map, Operation Blue Pearl this brings EIGHT new maps that everyone can play and will be added to ranked Battlefield 2 servers world wide. The Booster Pack content is included in the update and has made the file just over 2Gb in size. Server providers around the world will have access to the client file so find your closest host for best download speeds. To install Battlefield 2 Update v1.50 you must have Battlefield 2 updated to version 1.41 or Battlefield 2 Complete Collection from EA Store installed. Yeah I was looking at this too as an option seeing as they are going to release on PC this time instead of just consoles!! Although Battlefield 3 is rumoured to be in production too.

Yeah I saw it had returned to Newbury for i38, which in my opinion is a better venue if you can get in the boxes!! Unfortunately, I dont think I'll be able to get the time off to come down in november, as I already have 2 weeks booked off at the end of october for my holidays. I will however be looking at coming to the next Easter LAN if peeps are up for it.

Try now Dave - should be working ok. I found the problem in the permissions for ALL the user groups I'd imported from vbulletin. This was set to NO!! doh!!

A new Modern Warfare 2 movie on the YouTube shows off multiplayer play from Infinity Ward's upcoming military shooter sequel. The clip demonstrates customized killstreaks that allow you to customize your killstreak loadout. Note: This is from the xbox360 version it looks like as you can see pop-ups later on for what buttons to push!! oh and watch it all the way to the end... tis funny!

Just found a link to the trailer for the new Stargate:Universe TV series which should be coming later this year. Has Robert Carlyle as one of the leads and looks like a few other recognisable faces in there too, such as Lou Diamond Phillips and I think I might have seen Jeri Ryan (7of9) in the clip too. Thanks atomic, i'll take a look shortly. There is already alot of that stuff already built into the current template and extensions I have installed for the multi-media stuff - am just sorting out a last issue on the backend of IPB so I can edit the CSS with our webhost & IPB support - then i'll be able to concentrate on getting the mods done and things added.
