Look out San Diego! Battlefield Hardline’s coming for you! Later this month, we will be turning the lens to Battlefield Hardline’s single player story. At Comic-Con you’ll learn more about Visceral Games’ unique take on first person shooter storytelling, and you’ll meet the ensemble cast and Hollywood talent helping to bring that story to life in game. We’ll be there on Friday, July 25 from 2:30 to 3:30pm in room 5AB – be there! Titled Battlefield Hardline: A Visceral World of Crime and Revenge, the panel will feature Battlefield Hardline Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis and Creative Director Ian Milham, two of the leads on the Dead Space series, as they discuss how they are moving the Battlefield series in a bold new direction. The episodic nature of the single player game will be explored in a panel that will include the cast and crew from critically-acclaimed TV shows and films, such as Bill Johnson (Justified), Kelly Hu (Arrow), Eugene Byrd (Bones) and Benito Martinez (Sons of Anarchy). Explosive new footage of the singleplayer campaign will be on display, showcasing the game’s story about the war on crime in the gritty and glamorous streets of LA and Miami. Hi everyone, First off, thanks for all of the questions. We’re heads down working on Battlefield Hardline here, but it was great to read through the feedback and to see the passion you all have for Battlefield. There were a ton of questions and I got to as many as I could this time. If we couldn’t get to you this round, don’t worry. I’ll be doing this a lot more between now and launch. For those of you who are curious, we chose some of the more common questions from the community and have listed them below: [View the story "The Interrogation Room - Q&A with Steve Papoutsis" on Storify] Again, thanks everyone for the feedback. As I’ve said before, the Visceral team wants to continue to keep the dialogue going with you – our fans. Keep your feedback coming. We’re listening and responding. UPDATE 7/12: Above you will see the events scheduled during the first week of Battlefest. Every Friday throughout the remainder of Battlefest we will release a 7-day snapshot of all the events you can look forward to.As we head into the thick of summer, we wanted to do something for our fans and are kicking off a special event called Battlefest. This is a festival built for gamers, specifically Battlefield 4, filled with weekly rewards, contests and in-game content. It’s a fun way to give back to our community and say thanks, while doing some cool things in the game. Not to mention, there will be tons of prizes, including graphics cards and three gaming PCs, provided by AMD. Battlefest is just a small token of our appreciation and commitment to Battlefield 4. In addition to this, we have DICE teams in Stockholm and LA continually working on improving the gameplay experience, adding new initiatives like the CTE environment, and also developing the next two expansions packs, with Battlefield 4 Dragon’s Teeth releasing next week for Battlefield 4 Premium members. To get Battlefest started, we’re giving everyone a weekend of double XP from July 12-13, so if you need to level up your game, now is a good time to start or get back into the game. The 12th also marks the first day of our daily contest (called Battleshots), where we’re asking you to send us a screenshot in Battlefield 4 based on a different theme requirement. Each daily winning entry will receive an AMD graphics card, $50 gift card to the DICE Store, and a Battlefield 4 Premium membership on their platform of choice. We’re excited to see what you send in and will be altering the screenshot theme request daily until August 13 for more chances to win. Official announcement to come; official rules can be found here. Beyond the daily Battleshots contest, check out these other initiatives we’ll be doing during Battlefest. - Free Camo Unlocks Each week we will be releasing a free camo in-game for all players. This will give you more ways to standout on the battlefield. - Double XP As noted above, we’re kicking Battlefest off with a double XP weekend and we’re definitely going to end with one too for all players to reap the benefits. - Community Missions Each week we will be hosting a global community challenge to reach a specific goal in-game. If you reach the goal, everyone who logs in will receive a free gold Battlepack the following week. The first mission starts on July 15, 2014, where you will have to collectively reach 15 million revives across all platforms, with the mission ending on the eve of July 20, 2014. - Stunt Video Competition This a month long contest where we are asking you to send us your best stunt video that can only be done in Battlefield 4. Once we receive the submissions, the DICE team will pick the top 12 and then you, the fans, will vote on the top three winners to win a massive prize. Official announcement to come; official rules can be found here. And there it is, a month filled with fun activities and prizes to be given that we hope you’ll enjoy. But that’s not all, we have more surprises in store that we’re excited to share in the next couple weeks. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled. Happy Summer Gaming! * THIS OFFER IS BEING ISSUED TO YOU FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES ONLY AND DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A CREDIT, CHARGE, DEBIT OR GIFT CARD. It’s been about a week since the Battlefield Hardline beta has come to a close, and as Steve said last week we want to thank everyone who took part. Even though the beta was just a small taste of the complete package we plan to deliver with Hardline, the amount of feedback we got from players around the world has been incredible and will help ensure we make Hardline a better game when it launches this October. That’s why we’re happy to introduce you to the CMW – the Community’s Most Wanted. This is where we will outline some of the fixes and improvements we are making to Battlefield Hardline based on feedback we received during the beta and what we’re hearing from you. Yes, we are listening! Below are just a few things from the beta that we’ve learned and the changes we’ve already put into the game we play every day here. 1. MOVEMENT: There was a lot of feedback about slow movement speed and feeling “sluggish”. We’ve increased player speed by 10%, and players will get a +10% bonus for running with your pistol out. It feels much faster now! 2. SUPPRESSION: There were a lot of negative comments about the camera “bounce” when suppressed. We’ve changed the way suppression works – your aimpoint is no longer affected, but your situational awareness is. 3. SURVIVALIST: We’ve heard both sides of the argument on the Survivalist gadget, it is pretty polarizing. Some of you hate it, some of you love it – either way, we agree it was overpowered. We’ve changed it to revive you at 1 health and auto-inject after 5 seconds. 4. HIGH TENSION – CRANE CAMERA SHAKE: A number of people called out the camera shake from this event as being too over the top. We’re tuning this down. 5. HIGH TENSION – STAIRS IN HIGH TENSION BUG: Stairs in High Tension should no longer pull players into the wall. 6. ELEVATED OBJECTIVES: We’ve added some feedback to help you find the objective when it’s above or below you. 7. SPECIAL VEHICLES: We’re working on adding more special drivable vehicles like the Fuel Truck into all maps. We’re also working on a handbrake for cars. 8. STUCK VEHICLES: We’re working on the ability to “nudge” vehicles with a melee attack to help get them unstuck or to be able to move past them. No promises, but the early prototype looks promising! 9. HEAVY VEHICLE DAMAGE: We’ve added “weak spots” in the rear of the heavily armored vehicles, making it much easier to bring them down! 10. VEHICLE OCCUPANT LIST: We’re working on adding the Bag Carrier icon to the list of teammates inside your vehicle, so that you can tell when the bag carrier gets in your vehicle. This dialogue doesn’t end with the beta. We plan on continuing this from now until launch – and beyond. So come back to the site to check in and see the latest CMW lists and to voice your opinion. We will be revealing a ton of new multiplayer details including new maps, new modes, gadgets and our single player campaign – we want to hear your feedback! Thanks, Thad Sasser Lead Multiplayer Designer, Battlefield Hardline The post Battlefield Hardline – Community’s Most Wanted List appeared first on The Battlefield Blog. View the full article

We released the Battlefield 4 Community Test Environment (CTE) in early May, and have since then made good progress on improving the game together with our fans. In this blog post, we wanted to share some of the things that we’ve been able to achieve thanks to you. We’ve tested tons of things in the CTE, ranging from general gameplay tweaks to bug fixes. Many hours have been spent by the team watching live streamed gameplay, analyzing telemetry data, and of course, interacting with the players on the forums. It’s been a tremendous help to the team and we thank all those participating. The CTE is open to all Battlefield 4 Premium members. If you still haven’t had a chance to test it out yet, then please visit the following link to sign up: http://cte.battlelog.com/bf4/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3VJEyvbp3I Improving NetcodeMaking improvements to the “Netcode” in Battlefield 4 has been a top priority for us. Some of the items we’ve been specifically looking at is how to decrease the feeling of getting killed when behind cover and getting killed without initially seeing a damage indicator. The improvements we did were released in June, and we’re looking at testing out additional fixes during the coming months. Core GameplayThe core gameplay initiative has started, and in the first phase, we’re looking at making improvements and fixes related to the new Dragon’s Teeth expansion pack. One of the main items that we wanted to test was the all-new Ballistics Shield, and based on the feedback that we received we made the following changes that’ll make it for the release of Dragon’s Teeth: • Shield bash damage has been tweaked, it is no longer possible to one-hit kill enemies. The Ballistics shield now better matches with the initial design intent • Single tank AP-rounds now kill those carrying the Ballistics Shield, something that previously wasn’t possible. Rush TweaksIf you’re a fan of Rush, you’ll want to jump into the CTE and try out the new changes we’re currently testing on the Siege of Shanghai, Zavod 311 and Operation Locker to start. The main focus of these changes has been to increase the balance and flow of the Rush round. Often, this means making it easier for the attackers to tackle certain MCOMs. Some general tweaks have also been made, such as: • Commander has been removed by default in Rush • Radar sweep has been reduced around attackers base • Many per map specific changes, MCOM placement and cover passes. Apart from these bigger initiatives, here are some of the areas of improvements that we will be looking at in the future: • General Weapon tweaks/balance • Weapon Suppression tuning • 3P Head-flinch dampening • Visual recoil ADS tuning • Vehicle tuning/balance • Game modes: Rush, Continued tweaks to Obliteration Competitive and Conquest small • HUD improvements and bug fixes So, for those of you that have joined the CTE, thanks for the continued support in making Battlefield 4 even more fun! We look forward to seeing you soon on the battlefield. David Sirland Battlefield 4 Associate Producer The post Battlefield 4 Community Test Environment Update appeared first on The Battlefield Blog. As the Battlefield Hardline closed beta comes to an end, we hand over to Steve Papoutsis, VP and GM of Visceral Games, thanking all beta players for their participation. The Battlefield Hardline beta is now closed, we want to thank everyone who took part! Running a beta during E3 was definitely something that was hard to pull off, but we did it for two reasons. First, we want your feedback early. We’re listening to it, we’re acting on it and it’s going to help make Hardline a better game when we launch in October. Second, we’re gamers like you. It’s great to hear about games and see games, but we want to play games. And even though it is still early and we have a lot of work left to do, it was important to us that you could see and feel for yourself what we’re doing with Hardline. But this beta is only the beginning. . . In the months ahead we’ll be revealing more details about what we’re doing in multiplayer as well as what the team at Visceral is bringing to the singleplayer campaign. As many of you know from previous Visceral games, we have a unique way of telling our stories and engrossing players in our worlds, and Hardline will be no different. We are doing some cool new things in how we present the campaign, similar to what you see when watching episodes of your favorite TV shows. It’s something different and we’re fired up about it. Keep your eyes out for more on this next month. And, of course, there’s multiplayer, the staple of any Battlefield game. The Battlefield Hardline beta was just a small portion of what is in store. We have plenty of new modes in the game that really play off the cop and criminal theme, as well as the return of fan-favorites. The variety in maps is also something that Battlefield fans have never experienced before, from subterranean grow labs to the streets of Miami, complete with all the vibe and flavor that city has to offer. If you didn’t get a chance to play the Battlefield Hardline beta this time around don’t worry, we have your back as we’ll be launching another beta this fall on all announced platforms that will showcase more. Stay tuned to hear more later this year. We have a lot of cool things up our sleeve, but we also have a lot of hard work ahead of us. It’s an electric time all of us here at Visceral, and we’re pumped to tell you more about the game over the months ahead. Keep the feedback coming, we’re listening and we’ll be responding to it as much as we can. Participants of the Battlefield Hardline closed beta are surely familiar with the Grappling Hook. This gadget lets players fire a climbable grappling rope that attaches on certain flat surfaces, creating new shortcuts on the maps. In honor of this useful tool, we are now challenging you with a new Community Mission. We want you to collectively perform 1,000,000 shots with the Grappling Hook before June 22, 9AM PDT/6PM CET. You’ll be able to track the progress of the Community Mission under the “Missions” tab on Battlelog. If you succeed with this, a unique in-game Patch will be rewarded to everyone who purchases and plays Battlefield Hardline at retail launch in October, regardless if you played the beta or not. So jump into Battlefield Hardline, equip the Grappling Hook in your loadout, and fight your way to that million!
