.TuG.Beaver
I'm currently trying out the new FireFox PR1.0 release from Mozilla as an alternative to Internet Explorer. Based on all the security issues with IE - Firefox is a nice alternative - it also has a ton of cool features. For more info, check out: http://www.getfirefox.com Plus there's a good email client to go with it - Thunderbird.

Tantalus
I too have had firefox for some time but have found several issues with compatibility wrt my Password manager software as well as my router configuration management, so even to this day, I still remain with MSIE. As far as security issues go, a PC is as secure as the person makes it. If you truly want secure then go with Firefox on a Linux O/S. Alongside XP I have SuSe Linux 9 (professional) running Firefox & other 'open source' software for e-mail operations and surfing.. The only annoying thing about all of this though is installations/services and games - everything needs to be done manually, there is very rarely a 'fire-and-forget' installation to be seen and games are almost non-existant! For all it's so called faults, Microsoft have created a marvellous system which allows even your grandma to get to grips with a PC. No matter what they do though, like with PunkBuster, there will always be someone trying their best to f**k up their efforts and hack the system.. Anyway, Firefox is nice for a change - and it has some nice 'themes' available too!
