  1. Cheapest I have found it so far is ?26:45 delivered at MX2.co.uk , (play.com has it at ?29:99 delivered). Anyone found it cheaper?
  2. Exactly - your all 'soft' southerners to me.. South of the Border=South, North of the Border=North, unless my map's upside down..
  3. Time now 22:24 GMT .. got yr Pm and fileshare is up for next 3 hours I'm off to bed
  4. F***k off you southern poof... No offence..
  5. :xmasnaughty:
  6. I have sent you details of your individual fileshare username and password in a private message. The server will be running for the next 3-6 hours.. download it direct from me. You have the url too.
  7. There's a man who doesn't drive around the highlands too often or do the 'Portsmouth to Edinburgh' run at the weekends.. you certainly won't get much change from 9 hours there..
  8. Have you tried right-clicking the link and selecting "Save File as.." ?? That may work rather than a direct left-click..
  9. For info - check the [Junk] Email box in your Hotmail account for the above replies. It is often the case that Email is directed to the [Junk] folder unless the sender is listed in your Hotmail Contacts. You may find you have a [1] or [2] showing next to the [junk] folder..
  10. Hi ! People are on.. but at (seemingly) odd times. We have members both 'stateside' and in the UK so time frames vary. With everybody working, daytimes can be a bit difficult, players sometimes come on in the evenings for a while, alas I myself do not stay too late as i get up at 5am every week day to travel cross-country to work, so most of my evening is spent having dinner and getting ready for the next day's travel and events! Weekends can get busy; again it just depends on what people are up to - there is no hard and fast rule about having to be online, we play because we enjoy doing so, not because we are forced to.. so just keep checkin' them servers and you may spot one of us yet!
  11. Nope - File still there and dowloads fine. Have just dropped it to my desktop with no probs. Check your IE settings are such that you can download zips and/or that SP2 security centre is not 'blocking' it as a possible problem file.
  12. Of course... Just follow the instructions before you install it as you have to be totally off-line to 'activate'. I have included screen-shots in the instructions document so even a monkey can do it..
  13. Bump! Is this now sorted? Can I remove the above software etc?
  14. Unfortunately these maps are (individually) quite large and the speed of the 'in-game' download process will probably stop people from joining. I attempted to join our server when it was running 'Asia', the download process stated a 9MB+ download, which crawled like a dog even though I have a decent 1MB ADSL connection - thus I just abandoned the process.. I feel a great many others will too. Perhaps we should add the map-pack as a download file on our TUG Website and advertise the fact that the server is running it (the pack) via the news-feed ? As it stands I think it is likely to remain empty due to the massive overhead - people just won't wait around for new maps... and I certainly think we need the 'old' ones to encourage them to stick around..
  15. excellent. Keep up the great job. I look forward to trying them out!
  16. Not really, there are plenty of blogging sites around for people to get it off their chest if they need to, why clutter up our forum with other peoples moaning shite.. (IMO.. )
  17. Geek Time: The TCP/IP (protocol) Stack is a 'suite' of networking protocols but to save me blabbering on about it here is a link to a very 'interesting' ( ) site about this beast: TCP/IP (protocol) Stack. The socket error may indicate that it knows the site is there but it can't resolve the data, so there could be a conflict with your security settings wrt firewalls ( ?? ); The official line from Microsoft about this error is The 'easiest' thing to do would be to system restore your machine back to a time-frame when it was known to work correctly. This may correct the registry errors. Another method would be to 'repair' Internet explorer via the control panel add/remove programs option. This may also fix any corrupt registry keys. Yet another would be to do an 'over-the-top' installation of your operating system. This would mean you would have to install most (if not all) of your updates again though. As for your firewall software Zonealarm is fine as a basic form of protection but it is not as flexible and configureable as others. Remember the saying "You get what you pay for".. If you want it, I can provide you with "Norton Internet Security 2004 Professional" as well as "Norton SystemWorks 2004 Professional". At least then you will have a decent proprietary Anti-Virus+Firewall suite along with a System Utility package to help it chug along smoothly. As both these suites require 'product activation' to work I have compiled a concise set of instructions** to allow for this to be achieved offline along with the means to do so. You will then be free to run 'Liveupdate' and receive your updates for the next 12 months. Here is a link to my webspace where you can download an 83MB ZIP file for: Norton Internet Security 2004 Professional Systemworks is around 300MB even when zipped so if you want this one please let me know - I have broken it down into 3 separate 'zips' which I will have to upload individually so as not to fill my 250MB webspace quota in one go!... ** The Instructions are contained in a folder of the same name within the zip cabinet, the file is called Instructions.doc - Please read these instructions BEFORE you attempt the installation. You are required to be completely isolated from the internet otherwise you'll just f**k the whole thing up ..
  18. Yes. 100 is a good round number to achieve in order to get your name on the 'Stats' Board.
  19. Yes, installing a server will bring your friend all the joys that go with maintaining a network, such as IP Assignation (see above) and NAT routing etc but it seems an expensive option if it's only to replace one PC, there are only 3 on site and the basic 'network' is already in situ. You are only changing one machine right ?? Why not build or purchase a suitable unit, you could even swap the nic cards over too.. Then 'clone' the data from the original HDD to the new unit. As long as you have the necessary driver discs etc to hand, the O/S will detect and compensate for all the hardware changes, installing/updating drivers where necessary. The new unit has then effectively become an upgraded version of the old unit, same nic, same IP, same network, same data and O/S configuration. No need to re-assign machines or mess about with NAT, IP's and the like. It is probably the cheapest way to do it and does not affect anyone else, so they can still work away on their machines without having to wait for a network server to be installed. Just a suggestion
  20. 24 years ago eh.. I think I was doing some job training at Time Computer Systems in Bedford then; changing the big magnetic reeled tapes, monitoring the air conditioning, making sure the punched paper tapes were tidy and printing out (on a big,fat dot matrix form printer) images of naked ladies composed of lots of different typed characters (which when viewed from a distance looked like a picture).. ah hormones...
  21. doesn't do it for me
  22. without giving anything away in this 'open' forum - Logged in as per instructions, selected drop-down to ... nothing! the option does not remain selected it just shows <> and page remains as is.. no facility to upload.. EDIT: Done - allowed the JAVA applet to download/install.. got the page up now..
  23. I too have had firefox for some time but have found several issues with compatibility wrt my Password manager software as well as my router configuration management, so even to this day, I still remain with MSIE. As far as security issues go, a PC is as secure as the person makes it. If you truly want secure then go with Firefox on a Linux O/S. Alongside XP I have SuSe Linux 9 (professional) running Firefox & other 'open source' software for e-mail operations and surfing.. The only annoying thing about all of this though is installations/services and games - everything needs to be done manually, there is very rarely a 'fire-and-forget' installation to be seen and games are almost non-existant! For all it's so called faults, Microsoft have created a marvellous system which allows even your grandma to get to grips with a PC. No matter what they do though, like with PunkBuster, there will always be someone trying their best to f**k up their efforts and hack the system.. Anyway, Firefox is nice for a change - and it has some nice 'themes' available too!
  24. I play it too - my soldner CD resides in one of my drives which is it's (semi) permanent home, but every time i have tried to get into the server it is down!
